Our bodies are made to run like a well oiled machine. Here is how I see it. Running is the oil that keeps the muscle lubricated and ready to work. Strength training builds the muscles to produce more power. Balance/stretch keeps our muscles limber, agile, long and lean! If you can combine all three, you are bound to have one amazing machine!!
I have put together a one month calendar that combines a running schedule with both a strength and balance program. I use Barre Blend and Chalene Extreme from Beachbody.com. They are two of my favorite programs!
